The Swedish Consumer Coalition (Sveriges Konsumenter i
Samverkan) is a non-profit, non-governmental consumer
organisation. We are independent from trade and producers.
Our organisation was formed in 1994 and consists of 15
member organisations as well as local groups and a growing
number of individual members around Sweden. We publish
a weekly newsletter and maintain an active website for
our campaigns.
National and international
Cooperation
The Swedish Consumer Coalition has permanent seats at
meetings with governmental agencies as well as the ministries
of agriculture, environment, justice, trade and foreign
affairs. In addition, we take an active part in a number
of international committees, working groups and organisations
such as Alliance
of Sociall and Ecological Consumer Organizations
(ASECO), Trans
Atlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD), the European
Consumer Consultative Group (ECCG) in Brussels,
the Baltic
Sea Regional Advisory Council (BS RAC - relating
to management of the fisheries in the Baltic Sea) and
the Council
of Europe.
One of our founding member organisations, the Konsument-Forum,
is a member of Consumers
International (CI).
Our goal is to increase the awareness of consumers,
lobby for the consumers' interest, and increase the
influence of consumers both on the market and in political
affairs. We believe that the consumers are together
a considerable force that can influence our society
locally, nationally and globally in a sustainable direction.
Our aim is therefore to raise awareness of both the
positive and negative consequences of consumption.
